Reconstructing Subsets of Reals
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider the problem of reconstructing a set of real numbers up to translation from the multiset of its subsets of fixed size, given up to translation. This is impossible in general: for instance almost all subsets of Z contain infinitely many translates of every finite subset of Z. We therefore restrict our attention to subsets of R which are locally finite; those which contain only finitely many translates of any given finite set of size at least 2. We prove that every locally finite subset of R is reconstructible from the multiset of its 3-subsets, given up to translation. Primary: 05E99; Secondary: 05C60

Special Subsets of the Reals and Tree Forcing Notions
We study relationships between classes of special subsets of the reals (e.g. meager-additive sets, γ-sets, C′′-sets, λ-sets) and the ideals related to the forcing notions of Laver, Mathias, Miller and Silver.
متن کاملA Semi Number-Theoretic Approach and Proposed proof that CH is false
We introduce number theoretic systems for use in the study of subsets associated with the reals via its association with fractional portions of real numbers. Our techniques will then highlight properties associated with such fractionals that render these as part of the reals. We will then show that subsets of such fractionals can be formed, and finally we will then show that such sets-subsets p...
متن کاملΣ _1^1 in Every Real in a Σ _1^1 Class of Reals Is Σ _1^1
We rst prove a theorem about reals (subsets of N) and classes of reals: If a real X is 1 in every member G of a nonempty 1 1 class K of reals then X is itself 1. We also explore the relationship between this theorem, various basis results in hyperarithmetic theory and omitting types theorems in !-logic. We then prove the analog of our rst theorem for classes of reals: If a class A of reals is...

We present two ways of adjoining a perfect set of mutually random reals to a model V of ZFC. We also investigate the existence of perfect free subsets for projective functions f : (ω) → ω. 1991 Mathematics subject classification. 03E05 03E15 03E35 03E40
متن کاملOn Translations of Subsets of the Real Line
In this paper we discuss various questions connected with translations of subsets of the real line. Most of these questions originate from W. Sierpiński. We discuss the number of translations a single subset of the reals may have. Later we discuss almost invariant subsets of Abelian groups.
